Why Choose Samrey Products

Here are just a few reasons why our products perform better:

  • Low Wind Speed Rating
  • Low TSR Rotor Blades with Compound Twist
  • Custom Designed Axial Flux Generator
  • Endurance
  • Smooth Running Products

Low Wind Speed Rating:

All wind turbine manufacturers claim that their wind turbines are designed for low wind speed conditions -Samrey turbines really are!

All of Samrey small wind turbines are rated at just 8m/s (17.8mph) whilst other brands are rated at a whopping 12m/s (28mph). Regular wind speeds of this magnitude are very rarely found at most sites. Don't be fooled by the high peak output claims of other turbines -because the rated wind speed will be unattainably high as well. Peak output claims are a simple marketing ploy used to exaggerate the performance of a turbine.

The most important factor when judging a wind turbine is how many Kilowatt hours (KwH) per month the turbine will generate at average wind speeds. This is a true description of how much energy a turbine will generate and this is the only output data that Samrey publish for our products! Samrey products will generate more energy on regular installation sites.

Low TSR rotor blades with Compound Twist:

Samrey small wind turbines utilise custom designed low TSR rotor blades with compound twist and taper. TSR stands for Tip Speed Ratio and describes how fast the rotor blades travel in relation to the oncoming wind. Thanks to Samrey's generator design, they can utilise low TSR blades which are significantly quieter and have superior low wind speed performance. The compound twist along the length of our blades offers a superior distribution of weight, drag and generated torque. The combination of design features of our blades gives excellent all round performance.

Custom designed Axial Flux Generator:

Samrey small wind turbines all use a custom designed and developed axial flux Permanent Magnet Generators (PMG). The PMG is perfectly matched to the characteristics of the blades to enable them to work together efficiently across all wind speeds and conditions. Samrey's unique ironless PMG's suffer from no 'cogging' allowing the rotor to startup in the lightest winds. Lesser small wind turbines do not cut-in until they reach 500RPM. The Wren Micro-turbine will cut-in at just 350RPM -Thereby generating power more often.

Endurance

Samrey small wind turbines are tested at some of the most demanding locations in the world -From the west coast of Wales, to the mountains of Montana, our turbines are no stranger to high winds. This is why Samrey are confident about the endurance of their small wind turbines. Samrey small wind turbines will reliably continue to generate power, whilst lesser turbines are burning out and shaking apart. All of the components on the Wren Micro-turbine are manufactured from corrosion resistant materials including stainless steel and aluminium. Appropriate surface finishes including powder coating and anodizing are also utilised to prevent chemical and galvanic corrosion in extreme environments.

Smooth Running Products

If you are thinking of mounting a small wind turbine onto an existing structure, it is important that the turbine runs smoothly with minimum vibration and an elegant yawing motion. Samrey's Wren Micro-turbine features an oversized tail-fin and an unusual balance configuration to ensure smooth tracking of the wind which is especially important with low level installations. Whilst lesser turbines spend a lot of their time 'hunting' the wind, Wren will reliably track the lightest breath of airflow. Samrey quality control, balancing of the rotor blades and careful bearing selection means that the Wren Micro-turbine emits minimum vibration to the supporting structure.
